Over the course of researching and producing this multimedia series, I have been privileged and honored to meet many remarkable people from around the country. Their wisdom, knowledge, and heartbreaking stories of antigay violence have left me breathless, in awe; sometimes frustrated and frightened, often in tears.

For the scholars and experts who have shared their enormous depth of knowledge, your words educate and inform. Your insights will change how we view and understand sexual orientation and gender, and offer a deeper understanding of the cultural behaviors and attitudes that drive antigay hate.

For the victims, survivors, families and friends impacted by antigay hate violence, retelling your personal and tragic stories embodies true courage. These narratives and intimate portraits are windows into the harsh realities of life for the LGBT people, their families, and their allies. They are gifts to us all.
