THE VISIBILITY TAPES | Distribution
THE VISIBILITY TAPES Media Project was created and produced with the intention of reaching diverse audiences, not just those affected by sexual orientation prejudice and hate violence. A multimedia package increases the chances for dissemination to listeners and web browsers across the nation, impacting a variety of communities. In a globally connected world, it is hoped that the series will gain momentum, expanding its reach across borders into other countries.
The following is a mock example of how an ongoing record of the broadcasting and showcasing of the radio series, the webstories, and podcasts will be featured on the distribution page.
The Radio Series
The three-hour series was produced to be aired in full or in part. Radio stations are permitted to edit the series, producing shorter versions to fit within the context of their programming.
The documentary series has been broadcast from coast to coast, airing on more than 30 NPR affiliated public radio stations, including WBEZ in Chicago, Iowa Public Radio, Pacifica Public Radio in California, and WNYC in New York. Shorter segments from the series have aired on Remix Radio for WGBH and WBUR in Boston.
The series, in both whole and re-versioned editions, has been licensed by member stations through The Public Radio Exchange (PRX), airing on WILL in Urbanna, Illinois, and on New Hampshire Public Radio.
Multimedia Webstories
Webstories pair visuals and sound-rich audio from The Visibility TAPES series. These short four- to six-minute media packages have been featured and showcased on numerous websites including GLAAD, The National History Museum, The GLBT Historical Society and Making Contact.
Podcasts
The short seven to ten-minute podcasts are supplemental features produced in support of THE VISIBILITY TAPES series. Additional stories tracking new cases of antigay violence illuminate the prevalence of these bias crimes. They can be uploaded to any device, anywhere in the world.
